Taoglas launches new MagmaX external GPS/GLONASS/BEIDOU antenna solution with Lowest Axial Ratio for M2M and Automotive Telematic Devices
The MagmaX AA.171 GPS/GLONASS/BeiDou dual feed patch for lower axial ratio is an ideal solution for GNSS automotive applications where location accuracy is paramount
Enniscorthy, Ireland. – February 16, 2015– Taoglas, a leading provider of antenna solutions to the M2M and Internet of Things (IOT) market, have added the MagmaX AA.171 to their extensive range of antenna solutions. Applications for this GNSS solution include advanced telematics and M2M applications, for example in commercial vehicle installations for fleet management.
The MagmaX AA.171 is a dual-feed, two stage, external antenna which offers stable operation over GPS-GLONASS-BeiDou frequencies. Ronan Quinlan, Joint CEO of Taoglas states ‘The dual feed-feature has traditionally only been used embedded deeply in high end, extremely high priced systems in the surveying or agriculture market, now Taoglas has integrated this design in a stand-alone antenna through one standard SMA connector which connects to any GPS/GLONASS/BEIDOU module. This economical solution for the first time provides world class low axial ratio value (from 1 to 3) and wide axial ratio bandwidth across the full frequency range (1561-1602 MHz). to the general automotive and M2M market. The low axial ratio results in vastly reduced multipath interference effects, improving accuracy of the GNSS signals, especially in urban areas, where it leads to quicker lock times and a higher level of accuracy‘. A front end SAW filter reduces risk of radiated spurious emissions and compression due to other nearby transmitters, a common cause of certification failure on GNSS systems.
The MagmaX, manufactured in a TS16949 Tier One automotive approved facility, is housed in a compact waterproof enclosure and is ideal for robust, covert installations where durability and small size is paramount. It is available with a wide range of connector options. Weighing only 92g and at a size of only 53mm*50mm*17mm this antenna housing is particularly suited to applications where space is at a premium.
The new AA.171 MagmaX antenna is available now from Taoglas by Contacting Taoglas or through distributors.
