Taoglas Launches FXUB.66 Maximus Ultra WideBand Antenna for 700 MHz - 6GHz Applications

SAN DIEGO, CA – Taoglas USA, Inc, a leading provider of antenna solutions to the M2M market, today launched the patent pending FXUB.66 Maximus ultra wideband antenna covering all frequencies from 700-6000 MHz, including 2G/3G/4G cellular, Wi-Fi, ISM and GNSS bands.

“When you consider that M2M device makers, such as metering or remote monitoring companies, are faced with varying frequencies and wireless technologies from region-to-region, or even country-to-country for one device, it’s important in the first design to incorporate an antenna that will serve multiple frequencies as well as new requirements that may emerge in newer LTE and 4G networks. In some cases, one meter or a sensor product could use 2.4GHz in California, 915MHz in Texas, 868MHz in Germany and cellular technology in Russia,” stated Dermot O’Shea, Joint Managing Director at Taoglas.

The Maximus flexible polymer antenna, at 120.4×50.4x.2mm, is ultra thin and truly ultra wideband with high efficiencies across the bands. It is assembled by a simple “peel and stick” process, attaching securely to non-metal surfaces via 3M adhesive. It enables designers to use only one antenna that covers all frequencies and future proofs device design for LTE and 4G globally.

The Maximus antenna has a unique hybrid design, which displays good efficiency at lower frequencies, while maintaining high performance across the entire ultra wideband. Within one antenna structure the electromagnetic waves travel in two predominant propagation modes – one for lower frequencies, (e.g. LTE at 700 MHz) and the other for higher 4G and Wi-Fi frequencies up to 6GHz.

The FXUB.66 Maximus antenna is a durable flexible polymer antenna that has a peak gain of 5dBi, an efficiency of more than 40% across the bands and is designed to be mounted directly onto a plastic or glass cover. It is an ideal choice for any device maker that needs to keep manufacturing costs down over the lifetime of a product. It is ground plane independent and delivered with a cable and connector for easy connecting to the wireless module or customer PCB. The Maximus antenna is available for purchase directly from Taoglas by contacting sales@taoglas.com and will be available online at Digikey and Mouser after October 2012.
