Mounting Location

Prior to mounting the Taoglas LoPro™ antenna, determine the location of the antenna on the roof of the vehicle. Ensure that no obstructions are located within an 18 - 24” envelope around the antenna, see Fig. 1. Ensure that the location for the antenna that meets the following requirements:

The vehicle roof surface is clean of grease and dirt and can support a secure installation.
Keep a minimum clearance distance of 24 inches from center of antenna to front of the vehicle.
Keep a minimum clearance distance of 18 inches from center of antenna to nearest obstruction and to the edge of the roof.

Notes:

Obstructions can reduce the performance of the antenna.
Do not overtighten the mounting screws as this could cause the flange to crack.
Do not attempt to install this system in the rain or under any wet conditions.
Do not paint this antenna as it will void the warranty

Antenna Installation

Antenna Installation

1. Mount cover using size #6 or M4 large headed screws. Note: Do not use flat head screws.

2. There are nine 5 mm diameter mounting holes in the cover flange.

3. Seal the underside of the mounting flange with a high-quality sealant.

4. Center the cover over the cable access hole. A 50.8 mm (2”) diameter hole in the roof is recommended for cable access.

5. The cover is marked with ‘FRONT’ and ‘BACK’ markings to aid antenna installation.

6. The cover mounting flange is crowned to fit RV roofs. Align cover flange with roof crown direction.

What’s in the box?

Router Introduction

Your new 4G or 5G cellular router gives you the connectivity speed you need - up to 3.4 GBps - and backward compatibility with 3G/2G or 4G, which means you have more than one way to get a strong connection on the road.

Your cellular router operates over the cellular network and requires a strong signal to the network provider’s cellular towers to achieve optimal data throughput speeds. Connection to the cellular networks is variable, and highly dependent on the router’s ability to connect to the cellular towers. Topography, weather, and distance from the cellular towers all play an impact on the cellular router’s ability to transmit data. These are important factors that should be considered when establishing a connection.

4G-5G Router

5G Router

This dual-SIM multi-network router delivers 5G mobile connectivity for high-speed, data-intensive applications. Equipped with five Gigabit Ethernet ports and dual-band Wi-Fi, it ensures reliable performance with auto-failover for connection redundancy. Its backward compatibility and multiple interfaces provide flexibility for long-term expansion and upgrades.

5G Router layout

4G Router

This future-proof dual-modem router is designed to bridge the gap between legacy and next-generation networks. With integrated 4G Cat 4 modems, it maintains continuous operation through seamless fallback to 3G and 2G. Dual SIM and eSIM support ensure high-speed, uninterrupted connectivity, while load balancing, Wi-Fi, and five Gigabit Ethernet ports optimise performance. Industrial protocol support and versatile VPN options simplify complex IoT deployments, enabling rapid connectivity setup without the delays or risks of multi-device configurations.

Activating Your Data Plan

Your router includes a pre-installed T-Mobile SIM card. Follow the steps below for easy activation so you can get connected to the internet:

Look for the QR code on the sticker in your box. A duplicate sticker is also attached to the mounting plate containing your router.

After locating the sticker, scan the QR code to activate your account and enroll in a data plan.

While the account is activating, continue with the installation process, below

Installing Your Router

For RVs with a pre-installed (rooftop) Taoglas LoPro™ RV combination antenna:
The mounting bracket will secure the router to the ceiling of your RV just underneath the 3” round ceiling plate (which should be removed before router installation).

For RVs without a pre-installed rooftop antenna:
Contact an authorized RV dealer about antenna installation before proceeding. Refer to Taoglas LoPro installation instructions in Section 1 for more details.

Installation Steps

1. Remove the screws securing the 3” ceiling plate. Remove ceiling plate, exposing access to antenna and router power cables. Carefully feed cables down through the access hole in the ceiling – these cables will attach to various points on your router.

2. Carefully separate power cable (typically, a white cable) from antenna cables. IMPORTANT: The pre-installed power cable will provide 12V DC to the cellular router. To avoid damaging the RV’s electrical system, disconnect the power source prior to installing your router. This can be done by turning off all breakers and disconnecting the RV from any outside power source. If necessary, contact an authorized RV dealer and/or certified electrician for professional installation.

3. According to manufacturer specifications, the power cable in the RV ceiling will either show wires at the end or will be looped (uncut). If the power cable is looped (with no visible plug or wires), consult your authorized RV manufacturer for installation guidance. If the power cable is already cut, continue to step 4.

4. Using the included 4-pin adapter, insert red (power) wire into socket pinout, as shown in the image. Insert black (ground) wire into adjacent pinout, followed by green (input) and white (output) wires.

Mounting Screw Marking

5. Before mounting the router to the ceiling, carefully feed excess cabling back into the hole in the ceiling.

6. The mounting bracket containing your cellular router should cover the ceiling cable hole in your RV. Specifically, position the small round opening in the bracket over the ceiling opening so the cabling can be pulled through the bracket upon installation.

7. While holding the bracket against the ceiling, use a pencil to mark the four keyhole locations as shown in the image. Carefully set aside the bracket and router while drilling test holes with a 5/64”bit. Insert screws, stopping approximately 1/4” away from the ceiling, below in Mounting Plat Screw Installation.

Retention Screw Installation

9. Insert the mounting bracket over the four protruding screws. Fully tighten screws to firmly attach the bracket.

10. Pre-drill a 5/64” hole through the fifth hole in the metal mounting bracket (between two of the attached screws). Firmly install the final screw, which will prevent possible shifting of the bracket where screws have been installed in keyhole slots, see Image.

11. Ensure all cables (power/antenna) are pulled through the hole in the bracket. Attach 4-pin adapter to the power inlet on the front of the router.

12. Turn the power back on in your RV (via breakers in the pedestal or panel). Verify that power is reaching the cellular router by illuminated LED power and signal indicator lights.

Continue to Next Tab >>

Cover Installation

13. Insert antenna cables into any of the 4 mobile antenna connectors on the back of your router.

14. Check signal strength via signal bars on the router.

15. Turn on the Wi-Fi®, enabled device you want to connect and scan for available wireless networks. It may take a few minutes for the “Taoglas - Powered by OptConnect” network to appear.

16. Using the label included in your box, look for the unique default SSID and password. Select this Wi-Fi® network from the list and enter the correct password to connect.

17. As needed, carefully adjust excess power/antenna cabling to fit neatly against the bracket. Snap the plastic cover in place over the router and metal mounting bracket, see the reference image.
