Zara is an EMEA Sales Manager responsible for Ireland, the UK, and the Nordics. She works with the customers to identify their connectivity needs and to recommend the most suitable components from our portfolio and engineering services.
Why did you choose to work at Taoglas?
I had recently moved back to Ireland after 2 years in the US. I was living in Wexford and looking for a new job and challenge. I saw a job posting for Taoglas. When I looked into Taoglas, I loved that it was an Irish company. I was so impressed with the incredible growth and global success it had had since its establishment. The well-known customers Taoglas worked with across so many market verticals, really excited me and I knew Taoglas would be an innovative place to work. I wanted to be part of its continued growth.
How has Taoglas supported you in your career?
Taoglas has been an incredible support in the progression of my career. When I started at Taoglas, I began in the customer service department. This gave me great insight into the operations of Taoglas. I got to work closely with so many departments across the company, and got to interact with our customers directly. After some time at Taoglas, my management identified that I may be suited to work in our sales department. I moved to an Inside Sales role and then later became an EMEA Sales Manager. I was provided with incredible mentorship and support from my colleagues as I changed roles. I attribute all my knowledge of the IoT industry to our incredible engineering and product teams who have guided and taught me so much over the last 4 years. Our VP of EMEA Sales Sam McCarthy, has been an incredible leader to our sales team in EMEA. He has been a constant support and motivator to me as I’ve grown into my role. I couldn’t do my job without him and his positive influence and advice! The thing I love most about Taoglas is its people. I’m so lucky to work alongside the most talented and supportive colleagues you could ever wish for!
What advice do you have for people just starting out in their career in your field?
Sales is a popular industry to work in, if you love working with people and thrive on challenges and targets. My advice for starting a career in Sales is to always have the customer as your number one priority. Getting to know their company and understanding their needs and goals is the most important thing I can do. I don’t think you can emphasis enough the importance of a face-to-face meeting with your customer. Building a personable and trusting relationship is so important. My customers trust me with their projects and trust me with getting their product to market on time, the first time with our IoT components integrated. I’ll do everything I can for my customers to ensure their success and always want them to know I’m here to support them every step of the way.
