Revolutionizing Formula Drift Competitions with TorkHub’s Cutting-Edge Technology
Formula Drift is a judged motorsport where precision and artistry converge on the track. While the dynamic sideways slides may appear chaotic at first glance, each drift is a meticulously choreographed maneuver that showcases a driver’s skill, technique, and control. In this sport, performances are evaluated on factors such as drift angle, line, style, and overall execution—turning every run into a display of technical finesse and creative expression.
TorkHub is transforming the Formula Drift experience with its innovative platform, TorkEngage. By integrating real-time video and telemetry data into one seamless solution, TorkEngage not only enhances the fan experience but also streamlines event management for organizers. Backed by industry leaders like Red5, Videon Labs, AWS, and U-Blox, this platform is setting a new standard for precision and connectivity in the sport and allowing sports leagues to reach their consumers directly.
Given Taoglas’ reputation for purpose-built, high-precision antennas, partnering with them was an easy decision. Their streamlined approach simplified the challenging task of building a proof of concept under the rigorous conditions of Formula Drift—where every centimeter of drift and every degree of angle can impact scores.

The Challenge
In Formula Drift, every aspect—from the car’s engineering to the split-second decisions on the track—boils down to precision. The difference between a winning run and a losing one can be as slight as a few centimeters in drift angle, line, or proximity to track edges and obstacles. Drivers must expertly balance aggression with control to impress the judges and secure top scores.
TorkHub faced the challenge of developing an integrated positioning solution that delivers real-time, centimeter-level accuracy over a broad geographical area. This solution had to perform reliably in the demanding environment of a drift car—where rapid changes in throttle, brake, clutch, and steering are the norm, and engines produce between 600 to 1,000 horsepower.
The Solution
To tackle these challenges, TorkHub joined forces with Taoglas and U-Blox, leveraging their expertise in GNSS technology and connectivity. TorkHub selected the MagmaX2 AA.200.151111—an active GNSS magnetic mount antenna with a compact, lightweight, and enclosed design that supports multiple satellite constellations, including GPS (L1/L2/L5). With an outstanding signal-to-noise ratio (C/N0) and a low axial ratio, this antenna ensures reliable and precise location tracking by effectively mitigating multipath interference.
Paired with U-Blox’s ZED-F9P high-precision GNSS multi-band RTK receiver, which covers all four satellite constellations, this combination delivers real-time, centimeter-level accuracy within seconds. Such precision is vital for capturing the subtle nuances of a driver’s performance during each judged drift run.
Furthermore, to support seamless network switching and global coverage, the TorkHub team required an antenna that could handle a wide range of LTE bands as they deploy CRBS networks to maintain connection with the vehicles. Collaborating with Taoglas, they integrated the Cyclone FXUB64—a flexible wideband antenna designed for frequencies ranging from 600 to 3000 MHz. Its ultra-thin, high-efficiency design and simple “peel and stick” installation make it ideal for discreet placement on a drift car’s windscreen.
The Outcome
Taoglas’ support went beyond simply providing antennas. They delivered custom, best-in-class service—quickly supplying samples and staying highly responsive to our needs throughout the development process. Their expert guidance gave us the confidence to rely on their solutions, allowing us to focus on innovation. In the exacting environment of Formula Drift, Taoglas made the complex challenge of achieving high-precis
