Taoglas is a leading provider of advanced technology for a smarter world. Our solutions include advanced components and technologies and help OEMs, enterprises, and communities to resolve the complexities of bringing digital transformation solutions to market quickly and cost effectively. Focused on best-in-class, high-performance antenna and RF design with advanced positioning, imaging, audio and artificial intelligence technologies, Taoglas understands the importance of high-performance connections.
Taoglas FAKRA GEN 1 connectors utilize a metal SMB connector embedded within a plastic enclosure that is colour coded and keyed for ease of identification and assembly. They have been designed with a swivel style housing for ease of installation. They are designed for high-volume production, automated harness assembly and provide superior performance. They are manufactured with the highest precision and are thoroughly tested to meet USCAR-2 and USCAR-17 standards.
All Taoglas connectors are RoHS & REACH compliant. The Water Blue Code Z connector is typically used for DSRC/ other connections and is available in both Jack and Plug and for multiple cable diameters.
Integration Instructions
The following Integration Instructions outline the general steps for preparing and assembling coaxial cables to antenna connectors. Following these guidelines ensures proper fit, secure connections, and reliable performance across a variety of antenna products.
Step 1:
Before beginning an installation, ensure your coaxial cable is stripped according to the recommended cable stripping guidelines. Using a precision stripping tool, remove the outer jacket, braided shielding, and dielectric layer to the specified lengths required for the connector system. Taoglas recommends that you refer to product-specific drawings or specifications for exact dimensions.
Step 2:
Once stripped, insert the prepared cable into the connector assembly, ensuring correct alignment with internal contact points. The center conductor should fit securely into the mating contact, while the braided shield engages fully with the grounding structure. Push the cable in until it is fully seated. Note that the pins need to be soldered on, and the ferrule must be crimped using a crimping tool with a 0.213 dye. A proper fit ensures stable signal transmission and effective shielding, both critical for high-frequency antenna applications.
Step 3:
After connection, visually inspect the cable and connector interface to confirm proper assembly. There should be no exposed or stray shielding strands, and the center conductor should be correctly positioned within the contact pin. The overall assembly length should match the intended design, supporting consistent electrical performance across different antenna models.
Step 4:
Once assembled, secure the connector as required by the application. For antennas used in environments subject to vibration or movement such as automotive, industrial, or wireless systems, additional strain relief may be necessary.
